Hiking through the Puglian canyons
Did you know that Puglia has one of the deepest canyons of Central Europe?
“Terra delle Gravine” is a spectacular canyon area on the west side of Puglia, between Laterza and Palagianello, about 20 minutes away from Matera. It is a unique place for those who are willing to discover the most savage part of Puglia while hiking over an untouched and well-preserved original habitat, our Regional Natural Park.
Surrounded by a rocky yet flourishing environment, a local expert will tell you more about the millenary story of this canyon made of calcareous stones and eroded by water’s course across the centuries. A great variety of flora and fauna will catch the eye of the beholders: the lucky ones may catch a glimpse of a peregrine falcon or a raven during this enjoyable walk.
